Bangle Size Chart and How to Measure at Home
Indian bangle sizes run from 2.2 to 2.10, referring to the internal diameter in inches — size 2.4 means 2.4 inches. Measure by pressing your hand into its narrowest shape and measuring around the widest point, then match against the chart below.
How to measure
- Bring your thumb toward your little finger, as if slipping a bangle on.
- Wrap a strip of paper around the widest part of that compressed shape.
- Mark where it overlaps and measure the length in centimetres.
- Match against the chart. If between sizes, go up — a tight bangle will not pass the knuckle.
Size chart
| Indian size | Diameter (inches) | Diameter (cm) | Circumference (cm) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2.2 | 2.125 | 5.40 | 16.9 |
| 2.4 | 2.25 | 5.72 | 17.9 |
| 2.6 | 2.375 | 6.03 | 18.9 |
| 2.8 | 2.50 | 6.35 | 19.9 |
| 2.10 | 2.625 | 6.67 | 20.9 |
Sizes 2.4 and 2.6 are the most commonly ordered in India. Note the numbering: 2.10 is larger than 2.8, because the second figure counts eighths of an inch rather than being a decimal.
Openable cuffs are the safer choice
If you are buying as a gift and cannot measure, an adjustable cuff or openable bangle removes the risk entirely. See bangles and kada — several designs are open-ended and fit a range of wrists.
Frequently asked questions
What is the most common bangle size in India?
2.4 and 2.6 account for the majority of orders. 2.4 is the usual default when buying blind.
Is 2.10 bigger than 2.8?
Yes. The second number counts eighths of an inch, so 2.10 is larger. It is a common source of confusion.
What if I am between sizes?
Go up. A bangle that will not pass the knuckle cannot be worn; a slightly loose one still can.
